Sweden – Stockholm – Gotland – Kiruna

Gotland is one of the richest historical regions in Sweden, with around 100 medieval churches and an untold number of prehistoric sites, including stone ship settings, burial mounds and the remains of hilltop fortresses. The island lies nearly halfway between Sweden and Latvia, in the middle of the Baltic Sea, roughly equidistant from the mainland ports of Nynäshamn and Oskarshamn. Visby is the only town, but there are several large, and many small villages.
